What is an AngleDrawer? An AngleDrawer is a drawer with at least one corner that is not at 90 degrees. Why would someone want a drawer that is not square? Not all cabinetry and furniture fits inside a square box. Some projects require drawers that are built on angles such as: · Corner cabinets with drawers in the corner · Cabinets that have an angle at the end of an island · Curved pieces with curved or serpentine fronts · Drawers that need to fit around an obstruction
Western Dovetail developed the first commercially available angled dovetail joint in 2004, originally to accomplish a 45 degree angle corner drawer to be used in the corner of a kitchen in conjunction with the Blum® Tandem under-mount drawer slides. Western Dovetail was also the first to exhibit the first completely dovetailed corner drawer at a trade show in 2005 at the AWFS Fair in Las Vegas. The Corner Drawer is part of the SPACECORNER system introduced by Blum ® in Europe, originally as part of the TANDEMBOX program. In addition to the corner drawer, the parallelogram drawer emerged. The parallelogram angle drawer is another Western Dovetail original that allows the space to be utilized where a cabinet makes an angled turn. Another use for angled dovetails in in curved front drawers. Since curves intersect at varying degrees of angle, angled dovetails are required to assemble a drawer with curved fronts. Since Western Dovetail began making angled drawers, customers have found many new ways to incorporate angles, curves and corners into their cabinetry. The introduction of AngleDrawers™ has allowed customers to get more creative and think outside the square box. This Website is intended to be a useful tool in determining the best drawer solution for your job. This site focuses on angled dovetail joinery for drawers that involve corners angles and curves. Each drawer is carefully made to your exact specifications with the utmost care. Western Dovetail makes each order from raw materials. All of the milling and material selection is done in- house per order so you can be assured that the best and most consistent materials are used for your job. All of the sanding and finishing is also done in-house so you can be assured that your drawers will be smooth and clean and finished the way you want them.
